I’m a woman graduating with a tech degree. What do I do now?

….But if you’re like me and went to a no name school, you probably didn’t find any of this out till it was waaayyy too late.

Step 1: Join Women’s Groups & Meetups

I was invited to Google I/O, Google’s annual developers conference for 1/3 of the price because I was a member of a women’s group that partners with them.

Step 2: Get some Experience.

GMAIL acceptance letter for “BASE” — Boeing’s Accelerated Student Experience — Congrats! “Congratulations! Out of hundreds of applicants that applied from around the world, you have been selected to join this year’s Boeing Accelerated Student Experience program (BASE).
This was a 1-week program during the summer that was open to undergrad students from almost any major. The program introduced us to “The Boeing Company,” including all of it’s lines of business and a variety of early career opportunities open to us.

Step 3: Create a Linkedin Profile.

Step 4: Create a Resume.

Step 6: Work on Interview Skills

In 2020, women make only $0.81 for every dollar a man makes.

Step 7: Go to Career Faires.

Two women in all black with white badges stand in front of a MathWorks booth at Grace Hopper Conference. There is a blue banner in the background that has the MathLab logo and there’s grey pipe and drap on each side.
Smiling my face off at GHC while hanging with Anoush at the MathWork’s booth.

Step 8: Apply for Jobs Online.

Step 9: Be Persistent.
